The Journalism Club evaluates the first productions of its members
The Journalism Club has reached a new milestone in its continuing education program. The members have dedicated their time to the critical assessment of their first productions. Twenty articles were submitted and some have been the subject of a collective analysis, conducted in a spirit of mutual learning and professional rigour.

The Journalism Club of the University of Burundi has organized the third meeting of its continuing education dedicated to the" Introduction to the written press "Saturday, may 24, 2025. The activity was held in one of the audiences of the campus Mutanga and was attended by the student members of the club who are passionate about journalism.
This session, like the previous, is part of a capacity-building program designed for students in the future journalists. Hosted by the journalist Gilbert Nkurunziza, sent by the Centre for the Promotion of the Information and Development (CEPID), the session was focused on the critical analysis of articles recently produced by the students. The goal is to promote a constructive feedback on the practice exercises in writing made by the participants.
In the previous session, each member of the Club was invited to produce a newspaper article. The production needed to meet basic standards of journalism, particularly in terms of structure, objectivity, clarity, and verification of the facts. In all, twenty articles have been submitted to this challenge collective during this third meeting.
The activity of this Saturday has allowed a replay of a careful and detailed comments on the content of each article. The keynote speaker, Mr. Nkurunziza, has proposed a general overview of the texts produced, highlighting the strengths, recurring errors, as well as the margins of progress. It stressed in particular that some students had already mastered the basic journalistic in nature, while others were still gaps, particularly in the processing of information, prioritization of ideas and the respect of the angle of attack.

All members of the Journalism Club show a real willingness to improve their journalistic skills.
The comments are constructive
The discussions were highly animated and interactive. Each member of the club now had the opportunity to comment on the work of its comrades, in an atmosphere of mutual respect and a desire to learn. The criticisms have been deemed to be constructive and caring by the participants. No students felt targeted personally and each has expressed his willingness to improve through the next sessions.
The Journalism Club, in collaboration with the CEPID, plans to hold training sessions will be similar in the coming weeks. They will focus on key aspects not only in the printed press, but also other media such as radio, television, social networks, etc., The members of the club will learn, among other things, to efficiently make a report, to conduct an interview or even to structure a narrative journalistic according to the professional standards. The medium-term objective is to equip the journalists of the future of practical tools to produce quality content, professional, ethical and responsible.
